Christchurch NZ Tramways

General information

With so many things to see and do, Christchurch's inner city is a wonderful place to explore. There's no better way of doing this than on the Christchurch Tramways. Get entertaining and informative commentary from the tram drivers as you take in some of Christchurch's memorable sights.

There's no need to book, just pay at the Tram Station or as you board at any stop along the tram circuit.

Thanks to the efforts of the Tramway Historical Society and the Christchurch City Council, the trams have been back up and running on Christchurch streets since 1995.

Stops

Stop 1: Cathedral Square

The heart of Christchurch City

Stop 2: Worcester Bridge

Punting on the Avon, Oxford Terrace cafes, 'the strip'.

Stop 3: Art Gallery

NZ art, shop, cafe, restaurant.

Stop 4: Arts Centre

Craft galleries, cafes, restaurant, entertainment.

Stop 5: Clock Tower

Botanic Gardens and Museum.

Stop 6: Hagley Park

Walks, Hagley Golf Club, Victoria Lake, Christ's College.

Stop 7: Cranmer Square

5 minutes walk to Victoria Street specialty shops.

Stop 8: Casino

Old Provincial Chambers, short walk to Christchurch Casino.

Stop 9: Victoria Square

Avon River, historic buildings, duty free shopping.

Stop 10: New Regent

Spanish architecture, boutique shops, cafes, bars.

Stop 11: Tram Station

Cathedral Junction, shopping, cafes.

1st April to 31st October, 9am to 6pm.
1st November to 31st March, 9am to 9pm.
